Not everyone understands the challenges that you as a parent face when you have a child with special needs. But we at Sensory Taekwon-Do certainly understand fully. We have developed our entire range of services around providing fulfilling activities for your child. And with our Teaneck special needs after-school programs, you can take advantage of extracurricular activity that your child will love and will get so much out of.

Martial arts in general, and taekwon-do in particular, offer a learning experience and an opportunity for greater self-esteem and confidence, along with instilling discipline and respect for others. And all this is in addition to your child learning how to defend himself or herself. We design our Teaneck special needs after-school programs specifically to meet your child’s individual needs. We base this on her or his neurological profile, and incorporating the very latest information in how exercise works to promote more effective pathways to the brain. Taekwon-Do as the foundation of our Teaneck special needs after-school programs, stimulates your child’s brains in those parts that deal with balance, muscle coordination, strength, working memory, and body awareness. She or he will benefit from the opportunity to promote personal growth and to improve brain connectivity. When you come in with your child, we will work with both of you to tailor our existing programs so that they will do the most for your child. We work one-on-one with him or her, and our efforts include more than Taekwon-Do. We also use methods like nutritional coaching, along with audio and video stimulation. Overall, the goal is to the involve all of her or his senses, which leads to the best results.

So if you’re intrigued about the possibilities with our Teaneck special needs after-school programs, then reach out to us right now and set up an appointment.

Caring for a child on the spectrum can be challenging, and it often involves thinking and looking outside the box for things that work. Whether a child is on the spectrum or not, each child is unique, has a unique way of looking at, interacting with and understanding the world around them, but for kids with autism this relationship may be a bit different. Here at Sensory Taekwon-Do, we offer plenty of engaging programs for kids with learning disabilities, behavioral concerns, and children on the spectrum, including an autism after school program in Teaneck.

Parents of kids who are on the spectrum will know just how challenging certain aspects of everyday life can be for their child, but we here at Sensory Taekwon-Do we take all of that into consideration. Before starting any program, we meet with children and talk to their parents, figuring out what sort of program and teaching style will work best for them in order to get the most out of it. Our director, Dr. Kerry Escamilla, D.C., has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine with an emphasis on early childhood spectrum disorders. Our second degree black belt, Dr. Kerry, is also familiar with martial arts as well as its benefits for children who are on the spectrum. Our autism after school program in Teaneck, as well as our other programs and activities, incorporate a whole brain/whole body approach that has shown to improve concentration and focus in many children. By providing a consistent and highly structured environment where we engage with all five of the senses, kids can learn to center themselves as well as find their center. We accept kids with autism, PDD, aspergers, ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia and much more.

If you are looking for a new activity that could also be beneficial to your child, consider visiting us here at Sensory Taekwon-Do to learn more about our autism after school program in Teaneck as well as the other program options we offer.

Teaneck Autism Taekwondo

Learning Disorder Martial Arts in Teaneck

Teaneck Autism Taekwondo

Teaneck Autism Taekwondo

If you have a child with a learning disorder, you will want to know that our Teaneck autism taekwondo practice offers a fun and effective way to help your child better function with his or her learning disorders. Improvements are also seen in children who are affected by autism. At Sensory Taekwon-Do we use an active program of martial arts to help children live up to their full potential.

At Sensory Taekwon-Do, our director is Dr. Kerry Escamilla, D.C. Dr. Escamilla has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine with an emphasis placed on early childhood spectrum disorders. Since 2006 our program has used the whole brain/whole body approach to treat autism through the use of the martial arts. Dr. Escamilla himself is a 2nd degree black belt, and knows the benefits many children receive by working in a consistent and highly structured environment. When you bring your child to Teaneck autism taekwondo, he or she will benefit from an active physical program that involves, sensory integration, brain balancing activities and nutritional intervention – this is what is meant by the whole body/ whole brain approach.

A child’s learning disorders can be improved through this martial arts program. Our Teaneck autism taekwondo program helps children with: autism/PPD/Asperger’s; ADHD/ADD; dyslexia and dyspraxia; and learning and memory disorders. ADHD is the most common of all diagnosed behavioral disorders in children. ADHD indicates that there is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity or a combination. Dyslexia is a developmental reading disorder and dyspraxia is a motor learning disability that affects gross or fine motor skills. Learning and memory problems are reflected in the IQ. All of these developmental problems are helped as the brain becomes more adept with sensory integration and brain balancing activities. Nutritional adjustments also play a role. Many students have been helped by this exciting program that incorporates the martial arts. We also offer special physical training classes for children with sensory disorders; adult Taekwon-Do classes; attention for unique case children on the autism spectrum and weight loss and detox exercise programs. If you would like to meet with our Director and see how our program can help your child, contact us today to make an appointment at Sensory Taekwon-Do.
