Teaneck Autism Taekwondo
If you have a child with a learning disorder, you will want to know that our Teaneck autism taekwondo practice offers a fun and effective way to help your child better function with his or her learning disorders. Improvements are also seen in children who are affected by autism. At Sensory Taekwon-Do we use an active program of martial arts to help children live up to their full potential.
At Sensory Taekwon-Do, our director is Dr. Kerry Escamilla, D.C. Dr. Escamilla has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine with an emphasis placed on early childhood spectrum disorders. Since 2006 our program has used the whole brain/whole body approach to treat autism through the use of the martial arts. Dr. Escamilla himself is a 2nd degree black belt, and knows the benefits many children receive by working in a consistent and highly structured environment. When you bring your child to Teaneck autism taekwondo, he or she will benefit from an active physical program that involves, sensory integration, brain balancing activities and nutritional intervention – this is what is meant by the whole body/ whole brain approach.
A child’s learning disorders can be improved through this martial arts program. Our Teaneck autism taekwondo program helps children with: autism/PPD/Asperger’s; ADHD/ADD; dyslexia and dyspraxia; and learning and memory disorders. ADHD is the most common of all diagnosed behavioral disorders in children. ADHD indicates that there is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity or a combination. Dyslexia is a developmental reading disorder and dyspraxia is a motor learning disability that affects gross or fine motor skills. Learning and memory problems are reflected in the IQ. All of these developmental problems are helped as the brain becomes more adept with sensory integration and brain balancing activities. Nutritional adjustments also play a role. Many students have been helped by this exciting program that incorporates the martial arts. We also offer special physical training classes for children with sensory disorders; adult Taekwon-Do classes; attention for unique case children on the autism spectrum and weight loss and detox exercise programs. Bergenfield Physical Training Classes for Children with Dyslexia
Living with a learning disability can certainly be tough, especially for children. Since kids are taking in and learning so much during their childhood, a disability or other problem can really hinder their development. This is usually because it is difficult to find personalized care or education that directly meets your child’s specific needs, but there are ways that you can help enrich them and learn to live with their learning disabilities as well as overcome them. That is our goal here at Sensory Taekwon-Do where we offer Bergenfield physical training classes for children with dyslexia.
Dyslexia is a learning disorder that is characterized by a difficulty with reading. This can be especially troublesome for children while they are in school as reading is a cornerstone of education. While there are many different kinds of learning, reading is an important skill to have when it comes to gathering information and not being able to read well can really take its toll on a child’s self-esteem as well as their motivation when it comes to participating in class or doing their assigned work. Here at Sensory Taekwon-Do, we aim to help address kids’ other strengths by offering a total sensory experience. With Taekwon-Do, kids learn to discipline themselves and learn to garner other strengths and abilities that they have. Doing so can help boost their self-confidence significantly, but it can also help their ability to focus and to stay motivated, which can be incredibly helpful when it comes to overcoming their learning disability and learning to complete tasks in new and innovative ways. With Bergenfield physical training classes for children with dyslexia, we incorporate movement and exercise in order to train children’s brains to work in other ways that are healthy.
Since dyslexia is considered a motor skill, sensory Taekwon-Do can help them sharpen this area of their brain but in a new and fun way that they may not be used to. We also incorporate all of the senses into our training sessions. During any Bergenfield physical training classes for children with dyslexia we try to stimulate all of their senses so that they can sharpen them and so that they can learn to think and solve problems in new and diverse ways. If your child has dyslexia or any other learning disability, consider scheduling a few training sessions here with us at Sensory Taekwon-Do.
If your child has been diagnosed with a learning disorder, you might have thought that learning martial arts is something that is not in the cards for her or him. But at Sensory Taekwon-Do, that is our specialty. We offer a program that is designed for children on the spectrum, a revolutionary method that is backed by the latest in neurological studies. We now know that exercise is key to creating healthier and more effective pathways in the brain. So if your child has been labeled as any of the following, you can take advantage of what we have to offer regarding 07621 taekwon-do: autism, PDD, aspergers, ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, down’s syndrome, or learning and memory problems.
How does it work? We have programs that are custom designed to suit your child’s unique needs based on their neurological profile. We don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach or treat your child like a number, but rather as the distinct individual that he or she is. We know that the symptoms that occur in children on the spectrum can be very different. Our program works to stimulate the parts of your child’s brain that deal with balance, body awareness, muscle coordination, strength, and working memory. We also make nutritional coaching a component in our program, which is complete and comprehensive and designed to promote growth and improve connectivity in her or his brain. This is the foundation of our 07621 taekwon-do.
In order to achieve the very best results, we involve multiple senses to draw your child in totally. This includes specially selected music that is used to stimulate right brain and left brain functions, incorporation of visual elements by having your child follow the lead of our instructor’s moves, and an emphasis on vestibular work to promote and maintain balance. And wall climbing, as well as the use of balls and other tools and equipment acts to engage your child’s tactile sensation (sense of touch). Students use the proprioceptive sense to concentrate on proper positioning during the performance of the exercises. All of this serves to make our 07621 taekwon-do an efficient way to learn for your child.
