Autism taekwondo in Tenafly
Everyone is unique. We all have strengths and weaknesses, we may be better at certain things over others, and some of us are naturally attuned to certain modes of learning over others as well. For kids who are on the spectrum, learning a variety of different skills can be difficult, but it is still possible – especially if things are approached in unique and interactive ways that meet the needs of such individuals. Here at Sensory Taekwon-Do we offer autism taekwondo in Tenafly that aims to engage kids in unique ways that can help them grow and learn.
Here at Sensory Taekwon-Do we offer specialized taekwondo classes for kids with autism. Our program is completely unique and is geared towards kids of all kinds who are on the spectrum. Our martial arts program is designed to match each child’s neurological profile – since there are so many different symptoms associated with varying degrees of autism and on each person individually, we create a program that is molded to the needs of each child that walks through our doors. We offer a variety of different sessions, including group sessions as well as one-on-one sessions. Autism taekwondo in Tenafly engages kids by stimulating areas in the brain that incorporate balance, body awareness, muscle coordination, strength and working memory, we can promote growth and improve connectivity within the pathways of the brain. Since kids who are on the spectrum are affected by a wide range of different symptoms, effective treatment often requires the whole brain to be at work. Our taekwondo instructor stimulates all of the senses during each session in order to accomplish this. We accept children who have been diagnosed with a wide range of different conditions including autism, PDD, Asperger’s, ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, learning and memory problems, Down’s syndrome, and more.
If your child is on the spectrum, then autism taekwondo in Tenafly may be just the thing they need. Our instructors are kind, caring and understanding and they do all they can to make each and every session special and productive at the same time. If you would like to learn more about the taekwondo programs that we offer children with autism or any other learning disabilities, please call us here at Sensory Taekwon-Do today.
Tenafly autism spectrum taekwondo
At Sensory Taekwon-Do we offer programs to help children on the autism spectrum. Our program has developed over the years to specialize in helping children with various specific challenges. Now we are happy to offer a problem that helps children to lose weight. At Sensory Taekwon-Do we help many children with Tenafly autism spectrum taekwondo programs that address a wide variety of issues facing our children.
At Sensory Taekwon-Do our instructors are Dr. Kerry Escamilla, and Master Young N. Kim. Dr. Escamilla is the Director and Innovator of Sensory Taekwon-Do. He has advanced training in the areas of neurology and functional medicine, and specializes in early childhood spectrum disorder. Dr. Escamilla developed Tenafly autism spectrum taekwondo to help children with his whole brain/whole body approach to treatment. This innovative treatment has its origin in Dr. Escamilla’s martial arts background. Over the years, Dr. Escamilla has expanded the program to treat many additional issues, including weight loss for children.
Our Tenafly autism spectrum taekwondo program involves sensory integration, brain balancing activities and nutritional interventions. We now offer a weight loss and detox exercise program, as well as other services. Among the other services that we now offer are: martial arts classes for children on the Autism spectrum; special physical training classes for children with sensory disorders; attention for unique case children on the Autism spectrum; adult Taekwon-Do classes; and birthday parties and after school programs. Sensory Taekwon-Do is a martial arts program not only for children on the spectrum, but for children with and without learning disabilities. The heart of the program incorporates movement exercise that will create healthier pathways to the brain. Growth and improved connectivity to the brain can be increased by stimulating the areas that incorporate balance, body awareness, muscle coordination, strength and working memory. We incorporate a one-to-one treatment plan which includes nutritional coaching. During a Sensory Taekwon-do program, the senses are incorporated with the movement. The auditory is stimulated by playing music designed to stimulate right brain and left brain functions. Visual senses are encouraged by modeling the instructor. The sense of tough is used throughout the session with the climbing wall, balls and other equipment. At Sensory Taekwon-Do, our director is Dr. Kerry Escamilla, D.C. Dr. Escamilla has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine with an emphasis placed on early childhood spectrum disorders. Since 2006 our program has used the whole brain/whole body approach to treat autism through the use of the martial arts. Dr. Escamilla himself is a 2nd degree black belt, and knows the benefits many children receive by working in a consistent and highly structured environment. When you bring your child to Teaneck autism taekwondo, he or she will benefit from an active physical program that involves, sensory integration, brain balancing activities and nutritional intervention – this is what is meant by the whole body/ whole brain approach.
A child’s learning disorders can be improved through this martial arts program. Our Teaneck autism taekwondo program helps children with: autism/PPD/Asperger’s; ADHD/ADD; dyslexia and dyspraxia; and learning and memory disorders. ADHD is the most common of all diagnosed behavioral disorders in children. ADHD indicates that there is a problem with inattentiveness, over-activity, impulsivity or a combination. Dyslexia is a developmental reading disorder and dyspraxia is a motor learning disability that affects gross or fine motor skills. Learning and memory problems are reflected in the IQ. All of these developmental problems are helped as the brain becomes more adept with sensory integration and brain balancing activities. Nutritional adjustments also play a role. Many students have been helped by this exciting program that incorporates the martial arts. We also offer special physical training classes for children with sensory disorders; adult Taekwon-Do classes; attention for unique case children on the autism spectrum and weight loss and detox exercise programs.
