We are pleased that our dojo specializes in helping children who are on the spectrum, but we also offer adult classes here at Sensory Taekwon-Do. For those adults who are on the spectrum, are special needs, or Down Syndrome, you too can take advantage of all the wonderful results that learning martial arts will do for you. Enjoy having fun with other people who have challenges similar to you. Make friends, boost your self-confidence, and get the benefits of regular exercise all at once.
Our Ridgewood taekwondo classes are specifically tailored to each person. You are a unique individual, so your needs and preferences are going to be different than those of everyone else, so we make sure that the plan for you reflects that. There have been many neurological studies that show benefits for physical activity in general, and for martial arts especially, when it come to strengthening brain connections. That alone would be reason enough to recommend our Ridgewood taekwondo classes. But there’s much more to them than that. Your balance and muscle coordination are positively affected. Plus, your sense of body awareness grows. It’s also a very good idea to learn the principles of self defense, and that is something that we are committed to. Best of all, you’ll have a great time. Martial arts are about discipline, but they’re also about good feelings. Many of the same principles that apply to our younger clients are also true for our adult ones. We work with you one on one, using audio and visual stimulation to maximize your experience.
We are confident that our Ridgewood taekwondo classes will be a fulfilling endeavor, so contact our office to either set up an appointment for yourself, or if you want to do so for loved one or friend, we encourage that, as well. Take that first vital step.
Fort Lee Special Needs Martial Arts
If your child has a learning disability, he or she may well benefit from the services that we offer at Sensory Taekwon-Do. At our facility, we offer For Lee special needs martial arts classes for children who have learning disabilities.
At our unique martial arts program, we offer classes for children with learning disabilities, as well as for children without learning disabilities. Our program actually uses a breakthrough martial arts program that will work with each individual child’s neurological profile. The Fort Lee special needs martial arts programs are based on leading-edge studies that show how movement incorporated into a person’s activities can actually create healthier pathways to the brain. The goal of the program is to stimulate areas in the brain that are involved in balance, body awareness, muscle coordination, strength, and working memory to improve growth and connectivity. We use a whole brain whole body approach to achieve our goals. Nutritional coaching may also be involved in our programs. All of the senses are used during our martial arts sessions. Music is played that addresses right brain and left brain functions. The Director and Innovator of our Fort Lee special needs martial arts program is Dr. Kerry Escamilla. Dr. Escamilla has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine; his area of expertise is on early childhood spectrum disorders. He is a 2nd degree black belt and knows how well martial arts are able to benefit students with learning disabilities, or who are on the spectrum. We also offer physical training classes for children with sensory disorders. We also can provide weight loss and detox exercise programs and even offer birthday parties and after school programs.

Bergenfield Taekwondo Autism Treatment
Kids who are on the spectrum or have any kind of learning or behavioral disorder often need additional or special care in order to get the most out of their education as well as their lives. Since their minds work a little differently, certain mainstream methods of education and instruction may be ineffective or frustrating for kids, teachers and parents alike. With the help of our instructors here at Sensory Taekwon-Do, we are interested in providing kids with a completely unique and immersive experience with Bergenfield Taekwondo for autism treatment.
Autism can vary from person to person, and different factors can affect how well certain individuals interact with the world around and with people in their lives. With this in mind, we here at Sensory Taekwon-Do have created a breakthrough martial arts program that is custom designed based on each student’s neurological profile. Children on the spectrum are often affected by a wide range of symptoms, which is why the core of our program aims to borrow knowledge from leading neurological studies that incorporate movement and exercise that inspire more creative and healthier pathways in the brain. By stimulating areas of the brain in a unique way, stimulation is achieved in a way that is different than children may otherwise experience and be overwhelmed by. Our programs incorporate balance, body awareness, muscle coordination, strength and working memory to promote growth and improve connectivity within the pathways of the brain. With Bergenfield Taekwondo autism treatment here at Sensory Taekwon-Do, your child can experience new ways of learning and self-awareness that you may not have thought possible.
Sensory Taekwon-Do accepts children on the spectrum including children with ADD or ADHD, autsim, PDD or aspergers, dyslexia and dyspraxia, learning and memory problems and much more.
