Finding after school activities for any child can be a bit of a journey, and no matter what your kid likes or is interested in it’s important that parents do their own homework first. Finding a place where your child can have fun and benefit in other ways developmentally may be at the top of your list, and we here at Sensory Taekwon-Do may be able to offer just what you’re looking for. Here at our dojo, we offer a completely unique Martial Arts program for children on the spectrum, creating programs for individual kids custom designed based on each child’s neurological profile.
Our founder and innovator, Dr. Kerry Escamilla, D.C, has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine with an emphasis on early childhood spectrum disorders – and he is also a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwon-do. Combining his two passions and areas of expertise, Dr. Kerry has created a completely unique program that can engage with kids on the spectrum in a fun way while also including sensory integration and other helpful therapies. When it comes to autism after school activities in Teaneck, we offer a variety of programs seven days a week. We typically open in the afternoon on weekdays around 3pm when schools generally let out and offer classes and other programs until 7pm. We are even open on the weekends, opening as early as 9 and 8:30am, and we also offer other options for activities like birthday parties too. Our after school project started in the fall of 2014 and has been going strong ever since. After school activities have proven to have long-lasting benefits for all kinds of kids, and kids of all ages, but we provide specialized programs that can help engage with kids on the spectrum as well as kids with other learning disorders too.
