After-school programs can greatly benefit kids of all ages. Not only does it give them something enriching to do once school lets out for the day but it can also provide them with a skillset and new relationships as well. Here at Sensory Taekwon-Do, we offer Ridgewood after school programs for children on the spectrum. When it comes to programs for kids with autism, we know what works and will work one on one with your child to make sure that they are getting the most out of their time with us after school.
Sensory Tae-Kwon-Do is a unique Martial Arts program for children on the spectrum that uses a custom design based on each child’s neurological profile. Our program aims to stimulate areas in the brain that incorporate balance, body awareness, muscle coordination, strength and working memory to promote growth and to improve connectivity between pathways in the brain as well. Our methods come from cutting edge neurological studies as well as our founder’s years’ of experience in both treating kids on the spectrum as well as with martial arts. The program’s founder, Dr. Kerry, is a 2nd degree black belt but he also has advanced training in neurology and functional medicine with emphasis on early childhood spectrum disorder. Using his knowledge of both Taekwon-do and martial arts along with his medical background, Dr. Kerry has developed a completely unique approach that he brings to every Ridgewood after school program. In addition to treating kids with autism and others on the spectrum, we also accept children for our programs who have been labeled with ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, learning and memory problems, Down’s syndrome, and more.
